Emirates Islamic, one of the leading Islamic financial institutions in the UAE, distributed gift bags for pilgrims travelling for Hajj this year, in the spirit of the Year of Giving as marked by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

Through the Emirates Islamic Charity fund, the bank distributed gift bags which include handy essentials to complement the pilgrims’ journey, including the Holy Quran, an information leaflet with prayer times and pilgrimage guidance, an MP3 player containing prayers and holy recitations as well as a booklet on the spiritual experience of Hajj. The bank has partnered with Dar Al Ber Society to distribute the bags across Dubai, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah international airports as well as to Hajj campaigns from Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

Commenting on the initiative, Awatif Al Harmoodi, General Manager, Operational Governance, Emirates Islamic said: “As one of the leading Islamic banks in the country, we are delighted to support our brothers and sisters as they make the most important journey in Islam, especially during the Year of Giving. We hope these gift bags will ease their pilgrimage and provide them with the guidance and support they need. We would like to thank Dar Al Ber Society for their support in making this initiative possible.”

Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Executive Director of Dar Al Ber, commented: “Emirates Islamic’s contribution to support pilgrims as well as the bank’s charitable and humanitarian work aims to strengthen the ties of cooperation and solidarity between public and private institutions, and the charities operating in the country. We appreciate the contribution to the pilgrimage project and commend the bank's significant role in supporting charitable, humanitarian and cultural initiatives through its multi-community participation in various community projects.”

In keeping with its values of hospitality and generosity, the bank’s Charity Fund consistently makes contributions that give back to the community. During Ramadan this year, Emirates Islamic provided iftaars for thousands of people across the county, settled diyaa to secure the release of prisoners and continued to sponsor the honourable Dubai International Holy Quran Award held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
