Emirates Islamic announces its charitable and community initiatives during holy month of Ramadan

Emirates Islamic, one of the leading Islamic financial institutions in the UAE, today announced that the Emirates Islamic Charity Fund is marking the holy month of Ramadan with several charitable, humanitarian and community initiatives, in keeping with the spirit of faith and generosity during the blessed period, and the Year of Zayed, as announced by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE.
The Emirates Islamic Charity Fund, in collaboration with several charitable and humanitarian organisations, has planned activities across the UAE that exemplify Islam's spirit of giving and support to the community.
In collaboration with Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, Emirates Islamic Charity Fund is distributing 12,000 iftaar meals at various tents across the UAE on a daily basis throughout the holy month. The meals are prepared by a group of Emirati families in certified kitchens, thus also providing these families with a source of livelihood and income during Ramadan.
Emirates Islamic Charity Fund, together with Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, Beit Al Khair Society, Sharjah Charity International and Dar Al Ber Society, will distribute Meer Ramadan (essential foodstuff and commodities regularly needed during the holy month of Ramadan) to more than 600 families in need across the UAE. The Charity Fund has also arranged for the Emirates Islamic 'Food for All' truck, in association with Beit Al Khair, to distribute iftaar meals to labour accommodations every day. In addition, the Charity Fund will distribute 3,000 iftaar meals to Emirates Islamic's support staff.
This year, Emirates Islamic Charity Fund, will also organize a number of initiatives, in co-operation with Dar Al Ber Society, to provide essential needs to the underprivileged families in Umm Al Quwain.
Furthermore, in cooperation with Sharjah Police General Directorate, the Emirates Islamic Charity Fund will aid in the release of inmates of various nationalities from jails by settling their debts to allow them to spend the rest of Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr with their families.
Finally, Emirates Islamic, in collaboration with Beit Al Khair, will distribute Zakat to families in need and people with limited income to fulfil their basic needs.
Awatif Al Harmoodi, General Manager, Operational Governance, Emirates Islamic who is responsible for the management of the Emirates Islamic Charity Fund commented: "The holy month of Ramadan is the most eagerly awaited month in the Islamic calendar. As a Bank that lives and perpetuates Islam's message of peace and generosity, we will continue to proactively identify as well as respond to humanitarian requests, providing aid to the less fortunate to help them meet their basic needs of food, shelter and health.
"This Ramadan, as we celebrate the humanitarian legacy of the nation's founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, we plan to expand our charitable efforts to improve the livelihood of underprivileged families, as well as launch initiatives implementing Sheikh Zayed's humanitarian legacy, inside and outside the country," added Al Harmoodi.
Emirates Islamic will also continue to be one of the gold sponsors of the honourable Dubai International Holy Quran Award held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
