FAQs

A debit card allows you to make purchases and payments directly from your bank account without incurring any additional costs. It also enables you to withdraw cash from your account at ATMs.

No, you cannot overdraw your account while using your Emirates Islamic Debit Card.

Yes, in certain circumstances, merchants can take these measures as a protection against fraud, errors or other losses.

You can contact the merchant directly to cancel the purchase and request a refund if necessary. If you suspect fraudulent activity, the bank can help you with a dispute.

Protect your account number, as well as the details of your debit card, such as the expiry date, security code and PIN. Even if you don’t lose your card, anyone who gets their hands on this information, can use it to access your account or create a fake card.

Remember that you can always dispute a transaction, but it is tedious and time-consuming for both you and the Bank. Here's what you can do to protect yourself:

  • Never write your PIN anywhere. Memorise it instead
  • Beware of Phishing, Vishing, Smishing and Shoulder Surfers
  • Take due precaution at petrol pumps, checkout counters and ATMs. Don’t hand your card to anyone, scan it yourself. Dishonest employees can ‘skim’ your card or copy it
  • If you shop online, make sure your laptop has the latest virus protection. Read more about Online Security Tips
  • Check your bank statements and SMS notifications from the Bank as soon as they arrive. Better still, check your accounts regularly online or via mobile banking. Immediately report any transactions you don’t recognise to our Call Centre on +971 600 599 995 – this will help the Bank to deal with the fraud quickly and effectively and prevent the fraudster from causing more damage to you or anyone else.
